Rocks Tourism at The Rock City(Mwanza)

Mwanza City also known as “The Rock City”, It has a unique scenery, being a hilly place, with the splendid rock formations, endowed with a combination of attractions which makes it a wonderful destination. It has been blessed with beautiful granite rocks all over the city and beautiful hills with a good scenic beauty, especially when climbing you can get a good scenery and experience of the beauty of Mwanza. There are so many Rocks in the city but the most known is The Bismarck Rock (symbol of Mwanza). Other biggest Rocks are Jiwe Kuu – Bwiru where you can get a beautiful scenery beauty of the Rock City while looking at the Lake Victoria.

Bismarck Rocks

Bismarck Rock the most popular landmark in Mwanza, was named after the Chancellor of German Sir Otto von Bismarck. The massive outcrop of hanging granite rocks, that have given Mwanza city, the Rocky City. These amazing rocks are lying in Lake Victoria just adjacent to the City centre. You cannot afford to visit Mwanza without visiting these rocks and have a photo shoot or just take a family photo as souvenir.

Jiwe Kuu - Bwiru

One of the more interesting rock formations around Mwanza is Jiwe Kuu, which some people call the Dancing Rocks. Many round boulders sit atop this rocky outcrop north of town and have managed to last eons without rolling off. Best time to go is during the sun set on the most beautiful surroundings of Mwanza. It' a huge formation of rocks over viewing the green area of Bwiru and the Lake. It may not seem like an exciting thing to do, but trust me, watching the sun set here is one of the most treasured memories from Mwanza, it's stunning.

Nundu Rocks

Nundu has got the biggest Rocks, where there is a street living on top of one of the biggest rock. There are so many Rocks with many features. The setback of these rocks are not developed as a tourism attraction , but anyone can climb and have a wonderful experience and get to know African life. These rocks are unique and big.

Kapri-point Hills and Rocks

There are so many beautiful rocks and hills where you can see a beautiful scenery of Mwanza such as Kapri-point hills above where you can see a wonderful view of Lake Victoria and Mwanza City.
